Bulletproof Sam, beloved survivor and hero, has crossed the bridge. Sam was rescued from a life of dogfighting on February 29th, 2012 in Jacksonville, Florida by the Humane Society of the United States, and came to The Hello Bully Halfway House that spring. He was a lively dog who met life off the chain with happiness and hope. Despite his past and the horrors he suffered, he never held a grudge. He had a wiggle and a kiss for everyone he met, and he changed hearts and minds of anyone foolish enough to think that a “dog like him” didn’t deserve a chance. Sam was adopted into a loving family and, in his elder years, even came to share his life with another Hello Bully alumni, Bella.

Sam showed us that, just when you think you’ve seen it all, love makes the impossible, possible. Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey, Sammykins. You will be deeply missed, and never forgotten.

Sam’s family has asked that all donations made in memory of him be earmarked for Hello Bully’s Nightingale Fund. This fund makes it possible for us to take in and care for dogs with extensive medical needs. Even in death, Sam, you are a beacon of hope.

Donations can be made via PayPal, by clicking the DONATE button to the right. Please note that it is for Sam. Thank you.

Welcome to Hello Bully

Since 2005, Hello Bully has been serving the greater Pittsburgh area and beyond with a mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and repair the reputation of the American Pit Bull Terrier. Because of our amazing volunteers and incredible supporters, we have helped thousands of dogs and owners through rescue and adoptions, spay/neuters, support programs, and community outreach.

Hello Bully is a non-salaried 501c3  non-profit charity registered with the Internal Revenue Service and the Pennsylvania Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations. We are 100% volunteer developed and staffed. Our working Board of Directors helps to meet our mission by staying active and engaged in the organization. Hello Bully Volunteers help with day-to-day operations, ensuring that dollars go to programs and direct care.

Your support enables us to operate The Hello Bully Halfway House, a small facility where our rescued dogs enjoy life as we work to match them with forever families. Your donations also make possible programs like Pit Fix Plus, Pittsburgh’s only free Pit Bull spay/neuter and vaccine program; and our Pittsburgh Pets Community Partnership program, that reaches out to Pittsburgh’s most under-served communities, providing free health care, food, and pet supplies. Hello Bully is Pittsburgh’s Pit Bull rescue. We’re a little rescue doing big things, and we couldn’t do them without you!
